“I ignite, set alight”*: Latenight Poetry.

There was a fire inside of her,
and suddenly, it died out.
The smoke filled her voice box
so she couldn’t shout.
She smiled,
so her happiness others won’t doubt.
Her eyes welled with tears
that are enough to make a plant sprout.

There used to be a fire inside of her,
and suddenly, water was poured over it.
She didn’t know where it came from,
but it almost caused her to quit.
Not from life but from hope,
there was nothing left but bits.

There was a fire inside of her,
of passion,
of love,
of hope.
and suddenly, it turned to ice.

*”I ignite, set alight” is the meaning of the Latin word inflammo.
